Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral

This fully recognised Diploma in Exercise Referral course provides the key skills and knowledge to establish exercise professionals in the field of Exercise Referral.

Focusing on the signs, symptoms and basic pathology of specific stable conditions; the implications and effects of specific medications relating to those conditions; How to plan, deliver, manage and evaluate a safe, effective and progressive adapted physical activity programme, personalised to individual client's needs and lifestyle and deals with the following illnesses:

 

  • Hypertension and hypercholesterolemia
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma
  • Diabetes and obesity
  • Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Mental health

 

Entry Requirements

Learners must hold an Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym/Exercise to Music or Aqua) or a Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training or equivalent.

Fitness professionals who are:

 

  • Seeking to broaden their client base by working with clients with low-medium risk medical conditions
  • Wishing to specialise in Exercise Referral
  • Working in Exercise Referral Schemes operated by local councils, PCTs and the private sector
  • Looking to become a Level 4 Fitness Professional

The learner must achieve all five units.

  • Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health

  • Professional Practice for Exercise Referral Instructors
  • Understanding Medical Conditions for Exercise Referral

  • Applying the principles of nutrition and physical activity

  • Planning Exercise Referral Programmes with Patients

  • Instructing Exercise with Referred Patients
