Emma Carter

About Emma...

Emma has a wealth of teaching experiences spanning over 8-years, in a variety of dance styles (Jazz, Street Dance, Contemporary) and expertise in technically and creatively working with children, young people and adults at all levels.  She has taught all ages from a variety of backgrounds and community settings, giving opportunities to access high quality dance in non-judgemental, inclusive and supportive environments. 

Emma performs regularly with Swerve Dance Theatre Company www.swervedance.co.uk, an associate dance company of Swindon Dance National Dance Agency. 

Recent performances include: Cornerstone Arts Centre, Didcot Dec ’08; Big Chill Festival Aug ’08; Pride Festival Swindon August ’08; Swindon Street Festival site-specific outdoor piece June ’08; Sparks band at Shepherds Bush Empire June ’08; Swindon Dance Theatre March ’08, Dec ’07, April ’07; The Robin Howard Theatre at The Place, London Jan ’08; Isambard secondary school in Swindon Jan ’08; Dance-on-film project in Cornwall Sept ’08 and Oxford Arts Festival Oct ’07. 

In her spare time, Emma enjoys camping, surfing and spending time with her family and friends!

Emma works freelance teaching in a variety of counties including Swindon, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.  Emma also teaches regularly as a guest artist on the level 3 adult contemporary programmes at Swindon Dance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Performing Arts (dance) degree  - Northern School of Contemporary Dance
  • Level 2 Exercise to Music - CYQ
  • A-Level Dance and Foundation dance training - Swindon

  • Membership with Foundation for Community Dance, UK-wide charity supporting the development of community dance, signed up to Community Dance code of conduct.
  • Freelance Dance Artist, dance leader for professional organisations Swindon Dance, Gloucestershire Dance and Oxford Dancers networking groups and Continuing Professional Development opportunities
